cbse on 06/01/2008 at 3:22pm (UTC)
CBSE question paper to be more analytical.
The pattern of Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) has been a subject of debate since long. Now effort has been taken to help student and make this education system more giving in terms of knowledge by involving the students.

The CBSE has revised the pattern of question papers for all the major subjects of class X- XII Board examinations in order to assess Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).

In the revised edition focused in on developing evaluating and analytical skill of a person rather than memorizing skills.

Giving detail of newly designed papers CBSE Chairman, Ashok Ganguly told to reporters that 20% of the question paper will be analytical while 10% of it will be very short answer type. Thus 20% will access HOTS in children.

The sample papers have been published and are available to CBSE website http://www.cbse.nic.in/curric~1/sample.htm to help the student to understand the pattern when the exams are not too far.

“They contain the blueprint of questions, providing marking schemes and helping students learn about the pattern of questions and the weight assigned to different topics,” Ganguly said regarding the sample papers.

Ganguly, “If a student scores 100% in this paper, then he's really the best,” he added.
The subject which has been changed to this new format include languages, Social Science, Mathematics and Science in class X while Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology , Political science , History and Economics in class XII.

Ganguly asked students to manage time and keep spare time to revise the answers before time and also added that the answer scripts of those students who scored a cent per cent in different subjects this past year will be put up on the CBSE website within a week.

Since the motto of such designs is to bring the best out of the budding brain but the academic session which is on the verge of completion might inflict problem to students who were not prepare.

On the other hand, this decision must be welcomed which will provide a channel to shape the young minds, this prototype will also change the teaching pattern in schools and will make the education more interactive.
